As an experienced lawyer for 26 years and the father of an autistic son, Jorge and his wife Sandy co-founded the Lawyers Autism Awareness Foundation (LAAF), which sponsors yearly sensory-friendly Santa events for children with autism and other disabilities and raises funds to provide equipment and outfit sensory classrooms for local schools.
After graduating cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law, he was commissioned in the U.S. Air Force and served as a JAG officer at Nellis AFB, Nevada and MacDill AFB, Florida.
He separated in 2000 when he and his family settled in Tampa and began his career in private practice as a litigator and trial attorney, first with a small local firm and then a large statewide firm. He left his shareholder position at Kubicki Draper five years ago to work in-house as corporate counsel for his favorite client, FCCI Insurance Group—a regional commercial insurance carrier based in Sarasota. Currently, he is the Managing Trial Attorney at FCCI and leads a statewide team of trial lawyers.
Jorge has been married to his wife Sandy, who works as a special education advocate, for over 31 years. They are the very proud parents of two young adults, Will and Gabrielle, who are pursuing their education at The Learning Academy at USF and Florida State University, respectively. In addition to spending time with family and friends and otherwise enjoying the Tampa lifestyle, they are avid runners and can frequently be found paddleboarding throughout Tampa Bay and surrounding waters.
